Charles W. Lewis Middle School

Charles Lewis Middle School was built in 1964 in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township. The middle school was named after the first superintendent of Gloucester Township Public Schools whose office was located in today’s main office. Lewis originally consisted of twenty-three classrooms and accommodated pupils in grades five, six, seven and eight. As the community grew, so did the middle school. An additional sixteen rooms were added in 1969. Years later the grade assignments were changed and now sixth, seventh and eighth grade students attend Lewis.
