Principal's Message

Welcome Mullen Families!

On behalf of the entire Ann Mullen staff, I would like to welcome you. I hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community. Our sincere hope is for you to have a positive and productive experience throughout your years here at Ann A. Mullen Middle School. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children. As the principal of Ann A. Mullen Middle School, I believe that it is my responsibility to maintain and to continue to build a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school.  Together as the Mullen Family, we will achieve this.

The transition from elementary to intermediate school and from one school year to the next may result in apprehension. Our mission here at Mullen is to create a safe and positive learning environment where you can develop academically as well as socially. I encourage each of you to get involved in our extracurricular programs, athletic teams, and after school clubs. There is something here for everyone, and when you get involved, you meet people that share similar interests and develop lasting friendships.

As a Mullen Jaguar,  you are here to learn, do your best each and every day, and never settle for less. Treat each person you meet with respect and dignity, the way you would want to be treated. Persevere through any obstacle and you will have a rewarding and successful school year. Our staff will not only educate you, but challenge you every step of the way. Every staff member is here to continue your positive experiences in education and make you feel comfortable throughout your middle school years.

Parent involvement plays a critical role in our school’s success. As a Mullen Parent, your partnership and support are key elements to ensuring that we are able to maximize each student’s educational and personal development.  We encourage a positive home-school relationship based on the mutual goal of providing the best learning experience possible for all of our students. I encourage you to take an active role in your child’s learning. Ways to support and increase your child’s academic success include:

  • Make attendance a PRIORITY including limiting tardiness and absences

  • Check Parent Portal regularly to stay informed of student progress

  • Communicate often with your child’s teachers

  • Limit social media

If you are new to the Mullen Family, we extend a warm welcome and wish you a smooth transition into our school.  We are proud of our school and the education we provide. We want you to know that we take our responsibility as educators very seriously, and will do everything in our power to make sure your child feels respected, safe, happy and successful at Ann A. Mullen Middle School.

Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome: Ms. Rebecca Santone, a Social Studies Teacher; Mr. James Young, a Special Education Teacher; and Mr. Chad Regn, Assistant Principal.

With all of us working together – parents, teachers, staff and students- the coming year will result in the realization of your hopes and dreams for your children’s learning.  I am looking forward to a PHENOMENAL year of learning, serving, and building strong and meaningful relationships!
